The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs is taking a major step to support the families of martyrs and those injured during the July Uprising by creating a special department for them.
According to Nahid Islam, Advisor to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology, as well as the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, this department will ensure that these individuals receive financial assistance and rehabilitation for the rest of their lives.
Speaking at a meeting with members of the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation on Monday, January 6, at the Ministry of Railways, Nahid Islam explained the plans for the support program.
"826 families of martyrs and 11,000 injured individuals have already been listed," he said. "We are still accepting applications, and the deadline for registration is January 31. After that, no new applications will be considered."
He also shared that the government has allocated a total of 637 crore 80 lakh taka to provide financial help to the martyrs` families and the injured.
The first phase, which will distribute 232 crore 60 lakh taka, is set to begin next week, with the rest of the amount being provided by June.
As previously announced, families of martyrs will each receive 30 lakh taka, including 10 lakh taka kept in a Fixed Deposit Account (FDR).
The injured will receive a maximum of 5 lakh taka. In addition, the martyrs` families and the injured will be given a monthly allowance to support their ongoing needs.
This move is expected to bring much-needed relief to those who sacrificed so much during the July Uprising, ensuring they continue to receive the care and support they deserve.
